INVESTIGATION OF ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT AND ISOLATION OF STEROL AND TRITERPENOIDS FROM GREWIA TILIAEFOLIA VAHL LEAF

Objective: In the present study, we have discussed antibacterial activity of methanolic extract Grewia tiliaefolia Vahl leaf and isolation pure phytochemicals by using column chromatography. Methods: The powdered material was extracted with methanol a soxhlet extractor compounds Evaluation determined zone inhibition disc diffusion method. Results: Three were isolated from chromatography, namely daucosterol, lupeol, friedelin purified after characterized UV, FTIR, NMR, MASS spectroscopic techniques, antimicrobial carried out on crude higher observed against Staphylococcus aureus diameter 34.1±0.513 mm at concentration 10 mg/ml. Conclusion: results in this research work conclude that showed good may be due to like friedelin.
